Job Description

Job Description

Laurel Hill Center is seeking a compassionate, equity-driven Housing Navigator to support individuals in securing and maintaining stable housing. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, community-based environment and is passionate about housing justice, mental health recovery, and harm reduction.

About the Role

As a Housing Navigator, you'll provide personalized case management, skills training, and advocacy to help participants achieve their housing goals. You'll work closely with landlords, service providers, and Coordinated Care Organizations to remove barriers and build sustainable housing solutions. Your work will directly impact the lives of individuals navigating complex systems while striving for stability and independence.

This is more than a housing role-it's about building trust, restoring dignity, and walking alongside people as they reclaim their lives. You'll be part of a team that values lived experience, cultural humility, and the belief that everyone deserves a safe place to call home.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct eligibility screenings and clearly explain program requirements
  • Develop individualized Housing Stability Plans and provide ongoing support
  • Assist participants in locating housing and applying for rental assistance or subsidies
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR)
  • Build and maintain relationships with landlords, property managers, and housing agencies
  • Co-facilitate renters' education classes and participate in team meetings
  • Advocate for participants' needs and communicate regularly with the Housing Coordinator
  • Support participants in navigating housing-related crises and transitions
What You Bring
  • 3+ years of experience in mental health, housing navigation, or social services
  • Lived experience with homelessness, mental health recovery, or substance use recovery (preferred)
  • Peer Support Specialist or Traditional Health Worker certification (may substitute for experience)
  • Strong understanding of Housing First and Harm Reduction models
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and maintain confidentiality (HIPAA)
  • Proficiency with mobile technology and office software
  • Valid Oregon driver's license and ability to pass background checks and drug screening
Our Commitment

Laurel Hill Center is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We strongly encourage applications from people with lived experience of homelessness, mental health recovery, substance use recovery, and those from historically marginalized communities.

We recognize that lived experience is a valuable form of expertise. If you meet some but not all of the qualifications, we still encourage you to apply.

Why Work With Us?
  • Make a direct impact on housing stability and recovery
  • Join a supportive, trauma-informed, and inclusive workplace
  • Access professional development, training, and certification opportunities
  • Enjoy a comprehensive benefits package and generous paid time off
  • Be part of a team that values collaboration, compassion, and community
