Special Notes:
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
•Prepare patient and collection equipment according to established procedures for blood collection.
•Verify patient identity before performing collection.
•Perform phlebotomy on patients of all ages.
•Instruct patients on proper collection of urine specimens.
•Interact professionally with patients, their families, departmental and hospital staff.
•Prioritize to work effectively in a fast paced clinical environment.
•Assist in the orientation and training of students and new employees.
•Support service and UWAMC goals, service efficiency, and effectiveness through such activities as: participating in problem solving, demonstrating support for policies, sharing expertise, and contributing to project work and committees.
•Promote and contribute to the development of teamwork in the service and working relationships between the laboratory and other departments.
•Form productive working relationships with coworkers
•Communicate clearly, directly and on a timely basis.
•Act as role model/mentor to new staff in same job class.
•Open to receiving feedback and making constructive changes as a result.
•Open to receiving direction and asking for assistance when needed.
•Keep abreast of safety procedures including fire plan, disaster drills, evacuation routes, etc.
