Unique role for an individual who is looking to gain more mine engineering experience and who enjoys the southwest climate and being outdoors. Position will be responsible for developing short and medium term mine plans. Maintaining mine models and using these tools to lead short-term mine planning at the site. Position responsible for regular updates of pit and dump topography, completion of monthly drone volume surveys in all active mining areas and ore stockpiles. Conduct surveys and track quality control data to define ore zone contact limits and maintaining accurate planning and practices. Lead surveying site needs as well as developing and recording exploratory and quality control drilling layouts and organizing the associated ore quality data for isopach model entry. Responsibility over short-term mine planning while keeping operations on budget, achieving requisite ore inventory targets and working closely with corporate G&M counterparts for the development and implementation of a long-term quarry plan. Responsibilities include completing monthly volume surveys in all active pits and ore stockpiles for volume and ore reconciliation, reconciling production volumes with end of month and annual aerial surveys, monthly updates of mining models and pit topography, surveying and tracking quality control data to define ore zone contact limits, surveying and recording extraction patterns, maintaining mine plan records, reviewing grade information in active pits, creating short and medium term mine plans, communicating mine plans to quarry operators, coordinating exploratory drilling campaigns, supporting development of mine and waste storage plans, liaising with corporate G&M technical team, conducting audits and trainings of ore sampling protocols, and other duties as assigned. Attributes required include experience or aptitude for CAD software, GPS survey equipment, attention to detail, ability to work in severe weather, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Physical demands include ability to walk on uneven surfaces, access heights and confined spaces, work in extreme heat and cold, and lift/carry 50 pounds. Education required is a Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering or equivalent, with preferred MS degree. Experience required is 1-3 years in surface mining, preferably lime or cement industry, with preferred 3+ years experience.
