An exciting new opportunity is available at the Department of Corrections (DOC) for a motivated Mechanical Engineer Consultant to join our professional team. As a Mechanical Engineering Consultant, you will engage in a diverse range of advanced mechanical engineering tasks to support correctional institutions across the state. Your primary responsibilities will involve devising solutions for operational, maintenance, design, or construction challenges, utilizing sophisticated and innovative engineering principles. In this capacity, you will act as a mechanical engineering authority and serve as the project coordinator for construction initiatives, whether they are managed by contracted licensed engineers or developed internally. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 37.5 hour work week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week after the initial 6-month training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years as a Mechanical Engineer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of professional mechanical engineering experience which required work on any structural mechanical system. Special Requirements: This position requires possession of a Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists. This position requires possession of a valid Class C driver's license which is not under suspension. Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
