To see what it’s like to work at CNN, follow @WBDLife on Instagram and X! Your Role Accountabilities: The Newsource Newsgathering Manager is a real-time leader of CNN’s affiliate news service. The position serves as the liaison between CNN news platforms, Newsource Sales/Operations and CNN's more than 1,000 partners throughout the U.S. and Canada, two hundred international broadcasters, and the branded channels of CNN. The role directs the daily workflow of the editorial teams responsible for newsgathering of breaking news, and regional content promptly to CNN and affiliate partners of CNN. Strategizes on ways to build constructive interaction with the varying CNN networks and platforms. Manages and maintains the level of editorial expertise needed for big stories in all domestic regions and around the world. Oversees procedures, practices, and policies of Newsource Newsgathering as they pertain to regional affiliate newsgathering. Works with the team to be aggressive on stories to bring into the network and ensure proper affiliate editorial information and content is being disseminated. Works closely with CNN Newsource Sales to build relationships with clients and ensure affiliates understand the value of the affiliate news service. Collaborates with Newsource domestic Sales and the Content Producer team to periodically check in with local news directors to provide the best service possible. Manages the performance of Newsource Newsgathering Content Producers, ensuring team exceeds expectations by fostering collaboration and team behaviors. Creates a climate of innovation and experimentation to maintain strong affiliate relationships, refine processes, and build an invested team. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communication or similar field preferred or equivalent experience 5+ years editorial experience in broadcast news, preferably with local newsroom or local news group leadership experience Availability and flexibility for 24/7 operations Leads by example and champions organizational strategies and goals Empowers employees through delegation, feedback, and coaching Skilled in selecting, retaining, rewarding, and developing top talent Capable of making timely, fair, and consistent performance decisions Knowledge or experience with non-linear editing Experience with local markets, affiliate groups, or affiliate news services Sets challenging objectives and demonstrates urgency Effective time and resource management Willing to accept additional challenges and responsibilities How We Get Things Done: Our guiding principles are central to our operations.
